The National Human Rights Commission of Korea(Chairperson, Lee Sung-ho) participated the 20th APF Annual Meeting and 3rd Biennial Conference held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 26 - 28 August.
During the visit to Mongolia, Chairperson Lee Sung-ho carried out various activities to communicate with the international community, in line with his inauguration ceremony, including participating in the APF Annual Meeting and having meetings with representatives from human rights institutions in other countries.
Chairperson Lee met with the Secretary of the ICC and Chairperson of NHRIs in Malaysia and Indonesia to discuss human rights issues in Asia Pacific and measures for cooperation among countries.
Prior to the APF meeting, he signed an MOU with the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, a new Chair of the APF, to strengthen cooperation for promotion and protection of human rights in both countries.
He also made a presentation during the APF meeting to encourage participation to the ASEM Conference on Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons which will be hosted in October by the NHRCK.
Chairperson Lee plans to take the APF meeting as an opportunity to further develop cooperation with NHRIs in Asia Pacific and international institutions.
Meanwhile, President Tsakh iagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia joined the closing ceremony to give a speech that emphasized importance of the NHRIs' role in promotion and protection of human rights.
