The new chairperson Kyong Whan Ahn got into the NHRCK’s office as the 4th Chair on Oct.30th. The new Chairperson Ahn took his inauguration speech among the human rights commissioners and staff members.
Through his inauguration speech, the Chairperson Ahn announced that the NHRCK should respect and cooperate with other institutions and organizations as well as express its opinion squarely. Also the Chairperson Ahn pointed out that criticism and rebuke regarding the Commission are growing recently compared with the NHRCK’s beginning. Accordingly the Commission should accept these comments with modesty and take them for the ground of our functions and roles as the human rights protector and promoter, he emphasized.
By his address, the Chairperson said that he will take the head in securing the Korean constitutional law and other laws and in realizing the acknowledged human rights and dignity.
Mr. Ahn is a law specialist, serviced as the law professor of the Seoul National
University, the Chair of the Korean Constitutional Law Association and a law school dean of the Seoul National University.
