From September to November, the NHRCK Busan Regional Office holds the 3rd Human Rights Video Contest to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the first year of the Anti-Discrimination Against and Remedies for Persons with Disabilities Act (Disability Discrimination Act; DDA). The contest aims to review the meaning of the UDHR, which is recognized as the most beautiful promise of humanity, to promote the rights of the persons with disabilities.
Main topics of the contest will be the importance of improving human rights for persons with disabilities, reviewing modern meaning of the UDHR to celebrate the 60th anniversary of it, lives and hopes of those who are vulnerable to human rights violations (people in poverty, the elderly, migrant workers, women, the homeless, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual, irregular workers, North Korean defectors, etc) and deep-rooted discrimination in daily lives.
