The Commission and Korea Sports Council co-hosted its first workshop on the promotion of human rights in sports to parents and leaders of student athletes on October 24 and 25, 2008. The workshop aimed to suggest sports policy which emphasizes student athletes’ study and exercise equally. The workshop discussed causes of and solutions to human rights violations in sports programs, shared problems of student athletes’ parents and leaders in private sport institutes, roles of parents and sports leaders in the protection of student athletes and good practices in the field of sports. The Commission will continuously develop programs for the promotion and protection of human rights in sports.
