September 8- The NHRCK provided human rights, health, legal and tax counseling services for senior citizens at the Seoul Welfare Center on September 9. During the event, a doctor, lawyer, revenue officer and family counselor offered a total of 110 counseling. Among these, 36 were on health, 28 human rights, 26 legal affairs, 11 family issues and 9 taxes.

The event also held a special lecture on the ways to protect human rights of elderly people and several side events such as a photo exhibition and survey on human rights of elderly people.

Advancing human rights of elderly people is one of the NHRCK’s strategic plans for the years 2009 to 2011. In this light, the ‘Human Rights Protector Group for the Aged’ was launched in May to provide assistance to the elderly people suffering from a number of different factors. The September counseling event was also held as part of this plan.
