October 26~30- The NHRCK announced its plan to invite delegates from national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in developing countries from October 26 to 30. Through this event, the NHRCK hopes to improve its capacity to address international human rights issues by establishing a network between NHRIs. Moreover, this event will provide a venue to highlight the leadership of the NHRCK by its involvement in strengthening the capacity of the NHRIs in developing countries.
The participants come from the NHRIs in ASEAN countries and other countries such as Qatar, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
During the program, the NHRCK will present on its successful recommendations and human rights issues of North Koreans and migrants. The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss the distribution of roles among NHRIs under the UN human rights protection mechanism. With the cooperation of the domestic NGO agencies, the NHRCK will provide workshops on human rights of immigrants. Further, the participants from the ASEAN countries will have time to present its plans for future activities, explain the functions and enumerate the accomplishments of each corresponding NHRI.
