Appointment of Nam-Geun Yoon and Hyun-Ah Yang as Non-Standing Commissioners
Professor Nam-Geun Yoon of Korea University School of Law and professor Hyun-Ah Yang of Seoul National University School of Law has been appointed as non-standing members (part-time commissioners) of the NHRCK since January 19, 2010 (appointed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, 3-year tenure).
Yoon graduated from Seoul National University with under and postgraduate degrees in law, △passed the 26th judicial examination (1984), △held posts including Daejeon District Court judge, Suwon District Court judge, Seoul District Court judge, Seoul High Court judge, Seoul Eastern District Court chief prosecuting attorney, etc. (1987~2006), and he is currently △professor of Korean University School of Law (2007~present), △Vice president of Korea Dosan Jurisprudence Society(2008~present), △Arbitrator of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (2008~present) △Editorial writer of the Law Times (2008~present), and member of the Examination Question Presentation Committee for the Ministry of Justice Bar Examination Question Bank (2010~present).
Yang graduated from Seoul National University with under and postgraduate degrees in child and family studies and sociology and received her Ph.D. in sociology from New School for Social Research in the USA and held various positions such as △prosecutor of South and North Korean Joint Prosecution for the Women's International War Crimes Tribunal 2000 For the Trial of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery (1999~2001), △member of the Special Committee for the Revision of Family Law of the Ministry of Justice (2003~2004), △member of Policy Committee of the Ministry of Justice (2005~2006), △head of Steering Committee for Korean Association of Gender and Law (2005~2007), etc. She is currently △professor of Seoul National University School of Law (2006~present), △researcher of War and Women's Human Rights Center of the Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (2008~present), and △president of Korean Association of Gender and Law (2008~present).
