The National Human Rights Commission of Korea(Chairperson Hyun Byung-chul) carried out consultation tour for people with AIDS on 26 March.
The NHRCK organized this consultation tour in order to provide people with AIDS an opportunity to receive consultation regarding human rights, discrimination, and law to help them resolve human rights issues that they are faced with.
The NHRCK also plans to host a panel-discussion where people with AIDS and members of human rights organization participate to identify and raise awareness on diverse human rights issues that people with AIDS are faced with, and result of such discussion will be utilized to devise related human rights policies.
During the consultation, the NHRCK displayed human rights books and materials helpful to people with AIDS and explained how to reach the NHRCK.
The NHRCK, starting from 2003, has been carrying out human rights consultation tour for the underprivileged and minorities including multi-cultural families, persons with disabilities, and North Korea defectors.
The NHRCK co-organized this consultation tour with the KNP+ and wishes that this event contributed to protection and promotion of human rights of people with AIDS.
