NHRCK carried out itinerant human rights counseling for the elderly

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea carried out itinerant human rights counseling for the elderly in a bid to listen to their voice and to seek measures to improve their human rights situation on 17 August 2016.

 

During the tour, the NHRCK provided counseling regarding human rights infringement, violation and legal affairs, and public officers in charge of tax and welfare for older persons participated to provide further information needed for daily lives.

 

In addition, the Seoul Counseling Center for the Elderly of the Seoul Welfare Center for Elderly carried out campaign and counseling in regards to prevention of suicide and healthy sex life of elderly.

 

In a bid to promote and protect human rights of elderly, the NHRCK has been carrying out diverse researches on human rights situation of the elderly and making recommendations to related departments and institutions to enhance human rights situation of elderly workers and protect human rights of the elderly living alone.

 

The NHRCK, as a chair institution of the GANHRI Working Group on Ageing has been making efforts to enhance perception on older persons and to promote and protect human rights of the elderly by hosting domestic and international conference and emphasizing the importance of human rights of older persons.
