Chairperson met with UN Special Rapporteur on North Korean Human Rights and Chief of the UN OHCHR in Seoul

On September 8, Chairperson Lee Sung-ho of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea met with Marzuki Darusman, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights situation in North Korea and Signe Poulsen, Chief of the UN OHCHR in Seoul.

 

During the meeting, Chairperson Lee discussed issues on North Korean human rights and measures for mutual cooperation between the NHRCK and the OHCHR in Seoul which started operation on 23 of June.

 

He also conveyed his words of appreciation to the Special Rapporteur Marzuki Darusman for his efforts to raise awareness on North Korean Human Rights and to improve human rights situation in North Korea by strengthening international cooperation and advocating for opening of the OHCHR in Seoul.

 

The NHRCK hopes that the meeting serves as an opportunity to exchange opinion on North Korean human rights and to maintain continuous and systematic relation between the NHRCK and the OHCHR in Seoul for promotion and protection of North Korean human rights.
