National Human Rights Commission of Korea Held Groundbreaking Ceremony for Human Rights Education Center

On March 19, the NHRCK held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Human Rights Education Center.

Since 2001, the NHRCK has provided human rights education to a total of 4.5 million people. However, it has been difficult to properly implement the United Nations-sponsored human rights capacity building because it has been conducted in rented external facilities rather than in specialized training facilities.

Therefore, the NHRCK established the Human Rights Education Center to create a space for human rights education and culture that incorporates the values of human rights, to improve everyone's human rights awareness, to ensure the right to human rights education, and to effectively train human rights education professionals.

The NHRCK expects that the establishment of the Human Rights Education Center will contribute to reducing social costs and promoting social integration by raising human rights awareness and preventing human rights violations and discriminatory acts in advance.
