Chairperson met with Commissioner of the UN CRPD

Chairperson Lee Sung-Ho of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea met with Commissioner Stig Langvad and Kim Hyungsik of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 20 of October.  

 

The UN CRPD is one of treaty bodies which aim to promote ratification and implementation of relevant treaties. It also review State report of the Parties(159 nations) to the CRPD to release concluding observations.


The National Human Rights Commission of Korea, pursuant to Article 33.2 of the UN CRPD, monitors implementation of the CRPD and promotes and protects human rights of persons with disabilities. During the meeting, Chairperson Lee and the two Commissioners shared their opinion on measures to improve human rights of persons with disabilities and to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

 

The NHRCK wishes that today meeting serves as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the NHRCK and the UN CRPD.
