NHRCK hosted 2018 Human Rights Defenders Congress

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea hosted the 2018 Human Rights Defenders Congress in Jeju Island. At the meeting, more than 140 people including public officials in charge of human rights, members of local government’s councils, members of human rights centers were gathered to discuss measures to enhance regional human rights mechanisms and the role of the NHRCK and local governing bodies. Chairperson Choi Youngae, at the meeting, emphasized the importance of the role of local human rights mechanisms.
