The mother of a soldier whose heart attack was presumably caused by habitual assault and battery within military filed a petition to NHRCK when the military tried to hide and neglect the case. The petition called for an investigation on an entire infantry division as well as on the battalion commander. The conclusion by the NHRCK reads as following:
△The Defense Minister is advised to complement the existing regulations to prevent any further accidents of similar nature from happening and to reconsider the sufferer’s mental problem as an injury in harness. △The Army staff officer is advised on providing human rights education session to the captain or the battalion commander. △Prosecutor General is advised to press charge on the assaulter by the criminal law and on violating the provision on assault and battery.
The mother of the sufferer filed a petition to the NHRCK as her son had a heart disease after having been assaulted by his superior. He had broken tooth and rib, and the sufferer also insisted that the assaulter applied antichloristic ointment on his eyes and genitals. He was hospitalized at the military hospital after he showed some symptoms of heart disease, but his mother filed a petition as the military didn’t show sincerity in investigating the case.
