Director-Center for Capital Punishment Studies Visits the NHRC on Feb. 4
The director of the Center for Capital Punishment Studies, Peter Hodgkinson, and persons involved in the British Embassy of Korea, will visit the NHRC on 4 February. The purposes of this visit are to convey the trend of public opinion about the death penalty in Europe and to hear and discuss public opinion about the abolition of the death penalty in Korea. The NHRC staffs that will join the meeting with visitors are as follows: Chang-Kuk Kim, the president; Young-Aei Choi, the secretary-general; and Young-Hee Na, the director-general of the Education & Cooperation Bureau.
Hodgkinson, one of the United Kingdom"s top experts in this field, is a member of the British Foreign Minister"s Death Penalty Panel, and has extensive experience both in the United Kingdom and internationally. He has worked with numerous national governments in advancing the debate about the death penalty-both encouraging states to consider alternatives to capital punishment and addressing the key arguments in favor of the abolition of capital punishment
