NHRCK Appoints Four New Goodwill Ambassadors

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Myung-Hwa Chung (world-renowned cellist), Ji-Young Gong (novelist), Mi-Hwa Kim (broadcasting personality), and Soo-Young Lee (singer) as goodwill ambassadors ofthe National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
Goodwill ambassadors are responsible for directing the general public’s attention to the importance of human rights. All of the newly appointed goodwill ambassadors are accomplished in their respective fields and have shown strong interest in human rights, and are expected to lend a powerful hand in raising awareness of human rights in Korean society.
Myung-Hwa Chung, a world-class musician, has been very active in the musical community, organizing the Chung Trio with her sister and violinist Kyung-Hwa Chung, and her brother and conductor Myung-Hun Chung.
Ji-Young Gong, a female novelist representing Korea, published Our Happy Time, which addresses the issue of the death penalty. The work did much to draw the attention to the death penalty system and the plight of death-row inmates.
Mi-Hwa Kim, a broadcasting personality and former popular comedian, has established a significantly active career in broadcasting. She is currently hosting a current affairs program.
Soo-Young Lee, a pop singer, has many hits to her credit and has performed good deeds in many ways.
 
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea was established in 2001, offering investigation and remedy services for Korean citizens and foreigners residing in Korea against human rights violations and discrimination. The Commission provides policy recommendations and remedial action against human rights infringements, collaborates with international human rights organizations and implements educational programs to improve the human rights culture.
