"It is a violation of human rights to interrogate a student in the middle of a class."

The NHRCK has investigated a case filed by four civil society organizations including the 'Chunbook Peace and Human Rights Solidarity' accusing the police of violating a student's rights on May 22, 2008.
"The police violated the student's rights by having an interrogation in the middle of a class only because the student had reported the demonstration against U.S. beef imports to the police prior to the demonstration", the civil society organization said.
After a careful investigation, the NHRCK concluded that the right to assemble, the right to privacy, and the right of self-determination were violated. The NHRCK, thus, recommended the Commissioner of the Police Agency to issue a written warning to the chief of the police
station, review the scope of the current intelligence activities, and take preventative measures against such violations in the future.
