The NHRCK reminds the Defense Ministry of the introduction of alternative military service
The NHRCK expressed its opinion to the Ministry of National Defense that the <Plans to Promote Alternative Service for Conscientious Objectors> suggested by the Ministry in September 2007 must be carried out on July 11.
In December 2005, the NHRCK recommended the Korean government to introduce the alternative service after confirming that the right to object to military service must be protected under Article 19 of the Constitution and Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
