The NHRCK Busan regional office holds a symposium on the protection and promotion of immigrants’ rights on October 22, 2008. In the symposium at international conference hall, Busan city hall, the regional office will present on human rights situation of migrant workers residing in Busan. Migrant workers in Busan, as a member of local economy, are frequently discriminated or excluded from society. Busan regional office, to promote and protect the rights of migrant workers, investigated 2,938 migrant workers who possess E-9 Visa through work permit system. The office will present human right situation on migrant workers and seek for suggestions to promote their rights through cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Justice and Busan City.
