For the 60th anniversary of UDHR, the Commission hosted an ‘International Workshop on Human Rights Education for Human Rights-Friendly Culture at Schools’ on November 27. The focal topic of this workshop was ‘Finding a solution for the promotion of human rights at schools through human rights education in Korea and Japan.’ Japan has a school culture very similar to that of Korea, including elements such as entrance exam-centered education and authoritarian culture. The workshop was hosted by the Commission, CRC Research Institute of Japan, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in order to compare and analyze the child rights situation and to promote children’s rights at schools in Korea and Japan.
