The Commission hosted the ‘2008 Practice Meeting for Human Rights Education’ on December 3, 2008. Since 2003, the Commission has hosted practice meetings for human rights education every year and awarded institutions for voluntarily developing human rights practices managed by schools and civil societies. The meetings aim to encourage teachers and civil activists who work for human rights and raise awareness of human rights education.
This meeting presented 11 practical cases in various fields including persons with disabilities, children․ youth, multicultural education, and human rights-friendly class management. Human rights education is an impetus for the protection of human rights in our society to raise individual human rights awareness in every field at schools and in society. The Commission hopes this meeting will review our human rights perception and enhance human rights education.
