In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Busan regional office held a forum on 16 December 2008 on human rights of women and migrants and remaining challenges.
The forum was held under the joint auspices of the the Law Research Institute (Director, Bae Won Kim), Women’s Research Institute (Director, Jae Boon Yoo), and Social Sciences Research Institute (Director, Ik Jin Jang) of the Busan National University, which signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Commission in May 2008 in addition to the sponsorship of the Busan branch of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Regional director, Dong Gyu Kang). Each research institutes presented reports on human rights of women and migrants and the participants reaffirmed their commitment to protect and promote human rights of minority groups.
