April 29 – The NHRCK expressed its concern on the South Korean abductee, identified as Mr. Yoo who has been held in the Kaesong Industrial Complex since March 30. North Korea has detained Mr. Yoo, who had worked in the Kaesong Industrial Complex as an employee of the Hyundai Asan Corporation, claiming he criticized North Korea’s political structure and maneuvered a North Korean lady to flee the country. They would not allow any contact with him.
Referring to the written agreement between North and South Korea on the complex, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that North Korea ratified, the NHRCK claimed that North Korea has failed to fulfill those agreements and urged the North to release the abductee as soon as possible.
