Roh has constantly proclaimed the government’s responsibilities to protect the rights of minorities, with a full awareness of the function and the role of the NHRCK as an independent organization.
l June 13- Chairperson Ahn Kyong-Whan appeared on a KBS TV show the “Love Request,” to promote the issues of human rights. “Love Request” is a charity TV program that introduces the lives of social minorities, and asks the audience for donations. On the show, the stories consisted of a two-year-old baby suffering from cancer, a dad suffering from leukemia, and a teenager suffering from a fibrous tumor.
Chairperson Ahn referred to the rights of children, the rights to health and the Disability Discrimination Act, and pledged further efforts of the NHRCK. He also asked for a social interest in the protection of minorities’ rights.
