l August 1~8 - Standing Commissioner Yoo Nam-Young attended the 14th Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum (APF) hosted by the Jordan National Center for Human Rights. During the meeting, the NHRCK reported its annual activities and briefed on the accreditation results of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA) as an APF representative of the SCA. The Commission also proposed the establishment of a Working Group on Migration and submitted UPR guidelines for NHRIs. These two proposals were adopted by the APF member organizations and the NHRCK was reelected the APF representative of the SCA.
l July 29 - The NHRCK held a symposium on human rights in North Korea on July 29. Delivering a welcome address, Chairperson Hyun Byung-Chul emphasized, “The NHRCK will continue its effort to improve North Korea’s human rights through fact-finding investigation and policy studies for related matters.”
