Han Tae-Sik (Bo Kwang), chief priest of Chunggae Mountain Buddhist Jungto Temple, Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, was appointed as Non-Standing Commissioner of the NHRCK with three-year term (February 8, 2009~February 7, 2010).
March 8~12
Standing Commissioner Moon Kyung-Ran participated in the 54th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York from 7 to 12 March 2010, and paid visits to Office of the UN Focal Point for Women, Human Rights Watch, Catalyst, US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission New York District Office to share the activities of the NHRCK and discuss future cooperation.
March 17
The NHRCK co-hosted Jumeokbap (rice ball) Concert with Food Bank of Korea to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The NHRCK holds commemorative events every year to support the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
March 22~25
Chairperson Hyun Byung-Chul visited Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the 23rd Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) from 22 to 25 March 2010 and met with officials from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOHCHR) to discuss common interests and mutual cooperation.
