NHRCK Competition for Human Rights Essays, Videos and Photography

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea annually organizes a competition for human rights essays, videos and photography to raise public awareness on human rights and to cultivate a culture of human rights. This year, the NHRCK received 475 works of essays, videos and photographs, and selected 100 works for awards among them.

 

The academic article discussing human rights violations by riot control police force was nominated along with five other articles for the human rights thesis awards. The NHRCK selected 31 human rights essays and nominated an essay on the perception on a multicultural society appeared on public advertisements as the first Excellence Award winner for the human rights essays section. Moreover, human rights videos on various issues such as human rights of students, freedom of expression and migrants were selected for awards, and especially the video that filmed daily life of a person with a disability was nominated as the grand prize winner.
