Date : 2012.04.03 00:00:00 Hits : 1595

The partially reformed National Human Rights Commission Act was recently promulgated and entered into force as of March 21 2012. The amended Act includes public service organizations and private schools in the category of subjects of investigation. It also imposes an obligation on the entity which receives a recommendation to give a response to the NHRCK within 90 days while the old law required a written explanation only in case of non-acceptance without any deadline of notification of whether or not they accepted the recommendation.

The NHRCK expects that the new law contributes to the promotion and protection of human rights in the country as it adds 704 of public service organizations and 6,200 of private schools as a potential investigation subject.

The Chairperson of the NHRCK should go through a hearing of the National Assembly on the appointment under the reformed Act as well.
