NHRCK initiates Human Rights Consultation Tour for North Korean Defectors

The NHRCK held a Human Rights Consultation Tour for North Korean Defectors on September 5 at the NK Refugee Human Rights Association of Korea Office in Seoul.

 

Since its establishment, NHRCK has been holding a Human Rights Consultation Tour for persons with disabilities, refugees, migrants workers, the homeless, the senior citizen and the youth. This Human Rights Consultation Tour for North Korean Defectors is also in line with these tours.

 

North Korean defectors residing in the Republic of Korea has been increasing since 1990 and reached over 20 thousands this year. Most of them experience hardships in the course of settlement and relevant institutional protection is fragile.

 

 

The Human Rights Consultation Tour aims for the better policy-making in relation to the promotion of human rights of the North Korean defector and attain a clear understanding of challenges North Korea defector face in the course of resettlement and afterwards. It also provides information about remedy against human rights violation or discrimination.

 

So as to ensure practical help for North Korean defectors, the Commission held the Tour in collaboration with our own professional consultants, lawyers and labor attorneys who provided labor right-related and human rights-related legal consultation.
