The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) held a forum about human rights issues in North Korea which the next Government should deal with on 27 November 2012.

The international community including the UN calls for the improvement of human rights situation in North Korea expressing its worry on deteriorating human rights conditions in North Korea. The Korean society also continuously discusses measures to improve the situation.  The NHRCK held a forum based on the decision that it is necessary to openly discuss the policy direction regarding human rights in North Korea which will be presented to the next Government before the presidential election.

At the forum, various challenges at the legal and institutional level, international and diplomatic level, and civil society’s level were discussed. The outcome will be used as a base of NHRCK’s policy recommendations in the future.
