On July 22, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) received an official letter from the United Nations Human Rights Commission of Inquiry on North Korea (COI), in which the COI asked the commission to submit information, facts, testimonies that could prove human rights violations in North Korea. Also, the COI called on the NHRCK to share its call for submissions with the commission’s contacts and networks.
In response, the NHRCK sent the call for submissions to groups and organizations that work for human rights in North Korea on July 23.
Language difficulties in submitting information is expected as the COI will accept information and documentation in English only. Therefore, the NHRCK is going to provide necessary support in submitting documentation including translation, classification of information to ease such difficulties.
Any individuals or groups can submit information to the COI through the North Korean Human Rights Documentation Center and Archives of the NHRCK under the NHRCK or via the website, phone, and mail of the NHRCK or in-person.
