NHRCK hosted a discussion to address human rights violations
o The National Human Rights Commission of Korea(Chairperson, Hyun Byung-chul) hosted a discussion on 27 August, 2014, on problems and improvement measures of arrest of flagrant offenders of police contempt. That is because complaints regarding the issue are continuously received by the Commission, and there are some cases of human rights infringements during the arrest of offenders of verbal abuse against police officials.
o During the discussion, the NHRCK listened to opinion of related officials and discussed practical measures to balance the original purpose of police administration and citizen's freedom and rights of defense, which will be reflected to policy recommendations.
