NHRCK hosted a debate on social responsibility of and solution to suicide
- Seeking for social measures through social safety net, regional society and media -
o The National Human Rights Commission of Korea(Chairperson, Hyun Byung chul), with the Korea Suicide Prevention Center(President, Ahn Yong-min), hosted a 'Debate on Social Responsibility of and Solution to Suicide' on 13 October, 2014 at Korea Press Center in order to discuss structural problems of the Korean society which has been ranking first in terms of suicide rate among the OECD member countries for more than 10 years.
o During the first and second session of the debate, active discussions took place under the theme of "social safety net that saves life", and "media that saves life", respectively.
o The NHRCK hopes that the debate can serve as an opportunity to raise people's awareness on seriousness of suicide and devise practical measures to prevent suicide.
