The National Human Rights Commission of Korea, with the National Police Agency, initiates 2016 Human Rights Education Program for Police Officers which aims to prevent human rights infringements that could happen during performance of public duties of police officers and to promote human rights friendly culture in police.

Police officers working for children and women would be the first to receive human rights education starting from May 2, followed by the officers working in the fields of human rights instruction, foreigner-related affairs, and investigation.

The Commission has been carrying out non-regular human rights education for the past several years in order to emphasize the significance and importance of human rights protection during execution of public duties of police officers. Now, we would like to systematically operate human rights education in a bid to garner stability and effectiveness of human rights education program.

The Commission will continue to operate human rights education program for police officers to encourage them to have a human rights based perspective in carrying out their duties by strengthening human rights sensitivity through human rights education.
