The National Human Rights Commission of Korea provided a five day education program to female members of local council in a bid to nurture human rights instructor specializing in children and juvenile.
The program was jointly organized with the Network for Female Local Councilor, and 30 women from metropolitan and other local councils have participated.
Participants were gathered under the theme of human rights, and they were provided with various education programs including enhancement of human rights sensitivity, human rights of juvenile and social participation, human rights education for juvenile, and principle and methods of human rights education.
The NHRCK plans to designate participants as human rights instructor after going through deliberation to encourage them to work as human rights instructor in each region.
The NHRCK wishes that this education program can serve as an opportunity to enable member of local government to play a leading role for promotion and protection of human rights of children and juvenile and for establishment of a culture that respects children’s human rights.
