As one of the three main pillars of the international human rights community, as designated by the Human Rights Council, National Human Rights Institutions are expected to play an increasing role in the protection and promotion of human rights at the international as well as the national level.
In light of recent developments in international human rights mechanisms, including the conclusion of the 5th session of the Human Rights Council institution building process, we at the National Human Rights Commission of Korea believe that it is the appropriate time for national human rights institutions to make an effort to re-establish their roles and visions corresponding to such new frameworks in the international arena.
Accordingly, the NHRCK will hold a seminar on the 15th of November, the main theme of which will be Recent Changes in the International Human Rights Mechanism and the Role of National Institutions.
