The ASEM Expert Forum on Human Rights of Older Persons will be held in follow-up the ASEM Conference on Global Ageing and Human Rights of Older Persons(hereinafter referred as the ASEM Conference) which was held in October, 2015 after the approval at the 10th ASEM Summit.
At the ASEM Conference, 300 people from 43 nations participated to share exemplary cases in diverse field related to human rights of older persons and to discuss cooperative measures. The participants agreed on the need for a forum for public discussion on human rights of older persons, The ASEM Expert Forum on Human Rights of Older Persons, building on the result of the ASEM Conference, will be a platform to share exemplary policies in ASEM member states for major human rights issues of older persons including eradication of the elderly poverty and right to health, review activities of international institutions for promotion of human rights of older persons and discuss measures to further promote human rights of older persons.
