The NHRCK stated that the incident in which a police officer made an arrested man relieve himself while still handcuffed is clearly an instance of human rights violation.
Mr. L filed a complaint to the NHRCK in February, stating, “I was arrested and cuffed, on the charge of disturbing the police officer’s official duty. I asked the police officer to let go of one of my hands when I had to use the bathroom. But I was ignored and had to pee with the handcuffs on. It felt extremely shameful and humiliating.”
The NHRCK concluded that it was a violation of human dignity—a right that the Art. 10 of the Constitution assures — and recommended that the chief of the corresponding police station give a warning to the police officer.
